Description
This is a 1978 Pre Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray Bass that is all original except for a very nice Red Refinish. This does not have an epoxy preamp but not all 1978 Stingrays had the epoxy preamp. However the non epoxy preamps were identical to the epoxy preamps, except for not having epoxy. That is what this preamp is. The bass plays and sounds incredible and definitely delivers a fantastic Pre Ernie Ball experience.
This has a Red Body with a Maple Neck and Fretboard. The pickguard is black and all of the hardware is chrome. This has all original electronics plus this has a Thunder Pocket under the pickup. That is a routed area under the pickup that allows the resonance to build and definitely helps the tone. This is all original other then the finish and includes a very nice modern Fender Hardshell Case.
Condition
This bass is in extraordinary condition. The finish job is fantastic and very clean. All of the hardware looks new, it is in fantastic shape. The frets are perfect and the finish on the neck looks fantastic. I believe this is a case that somebody just wanted a red bass and refinished it without needing to. This bass was clearly very well taken care of.
The electronics are all working and are clean. This bass has absolutely no problems whatsoever. The case is in really good shape inside and out. If you want a killer Pre Ernie Ball Stingray Bass that is in really good shape this is it. This is set up and ready to go!!
